Lt. Gov. Quinn declares Uno the Beagle Day to Honor Bellville Pooch’s Westminster Kennel Show Win

(Chicago, IL) – From the In-Case-You-Missed-It-Department, on March 5, Lt. Governor Pat Quinn honored the Belleville-born beagle, Uno, who won Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show.

Quinn declared Tuesday, March 5 to be “Uno the Beagle Day” throughout the state of Illinois.

“Uno made canine history when he became the first beagle ever to win Best in Show in Westminster’s 132-year history,” Quinn said at a news conference in Chicago. “His triumph over 2,500 competitors of every breed and variety has brought pride and joy to the hearts of dog lovers throughout the Land of Lincoln.”

Quinn and Uno were joined at the news conference by the beagle’s co-owner and breeder, Kathy Weichert, of Belleville.
