Illinois Elections 2010: Outpacing Bill Brady, Gov. Pat Quinn Reports $1.2 Million in Campaign Cash within 48 Hours

(Chicago, IL) — October 22, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn reported late tonight that his campaign hauled in a whopping $1.2 million in campaign cash within the last 48 hours, according to state election records.

At 10:00 p.m. tonight, Friday, Quinn filed a report totaling $1,213,948. Earlier today, the governor’s GOP rival, Bill Brady, reported to the Illinois State Board of Elections a total of $765,504 in contributions. Yesterday Quinn filed $124,492.

Illinois candidates are required to report all contributions $500 or more within two business days 30 days before the election.

Quinn’s big contributors in the latest round included:

  • $350,000 – AFSCME Special Account, Washington, D.C.
  • $200,000 – SEIU HealthCare IL IN PAC
  • $125,000 – Construction and General Laborers’ District Council
  • $100,000 – AFSCME Illinois Council 31
  • $100,000 – SEIU IPEA, Washington, D.C.
  • $100,000 – UAW Illinois PAC
  • $100,000 – UFCW Active Ballot Club General Fund, Washington, D.C.

Upon hearing of Quinn’s latest fund-raising bonanza, a top House lawmaker expressed his confidence that Quinn will beat Brady.

Reached late tonight, Deputy House Majority Leader Lou Lang (D-Skokie) said, “When Quinn was down by 13 points months ago, I was saying then he would win, and I remain confident he’s going to pull it off. These fund-raising numbers reveal that he has the means to get across the finish line.”

With still 10 days before the election, there is more money to come.

Stay tuned.
