Gov. Pat Quinn Asks for Cabinet’s Resignation, Source Says

(Chicago, IL) — November 19, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn has already asked for the resignations from his entire cabinet, according to a highly placed source.

In addition to handing in their resignations, each agency director has been asked for a two-page summary of their department’s function and assessment of its productivity. This document will be due in approximately two weeks.

Agency reorganization and possible department mergers are on the horizon.

Quinn has long been under on-going political and legislative pressure from leaders of the Illinois General Assembly, especially House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) and Senate President John Cullerton (D-Chicago), to “fumigate” state government of appointees of ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich.

“Quinn seems to be cranking up the fumigator on his own,” said the source, a long-time Democratic operative.
