This Just In … Gov. Pat Quinn Endorses Jesse Jackson, Jr. over Debbie Halvorson

(Chicago, IL) – March 11, 2012. Annoyed by ex-U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Halvorson’s public campaign for the job of Illinois Department of Transportation Secretary in an effort to box in Gov. Pat Quinn on the decision, Quinn this morning, Sunday, returned the favor by endorsing Halvorson’s opponent, Jesse Jackson Jr. in their congressional primary battle.

Jackson is also leading Halvorson in internal polling, according to sources.

Quinn’s political arm, “Quinn for Illinois”, issued the statement with the date: “December 1, 2010”.

We presume Quinn meant the 2012 election.

Here the statement:

“I am pleased to support Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. for re-election. Time and again, Congressman Jackson has delivered for the residents of the 2nd District in Illinois. As a key member of House Appropriations Committee, Congressman Jackson has secured more than $800 million in federal funding for important infrastructure, health care, education, transit, housing, community centers and other projects.

“Since taking office, the Congressman has worked tirelessly to bring a third airport to the Chicagoland area, which will serve as a strong economic engine and create jobs and development throughout the region. Working together with all the stakeholders, we are moving closer to that goal every day.

“Congressman Jackson deserves to go back to Washington D.C. and help President Obama continue to fight for jobs, economic recovery and everyday Americans.”

  3. Ugh. This is so predictable. Also, another reason Illinois is NEVER going change unless there is a total government meltdown and re-boot.
