Illinois Primary 2012 Election Results: Openly Gay Judge Candidate John Ehrlich is Trouncing Opponents in Chicago Judicial Election


(Chicago, IL) – March 20, 2012. In a Cook County 8th subcircuit judicial race on Chicago’s North Side, openly gay candidate John Ehrlich is trouncing his opponents in the contest, including two sitting judges, an ex-state representative, and an another openly gay candidate.

With 85% of the precincts reporting, Ehrlich, a deputy corporation counsel in the City of Chicago’s law department, who narrowly lost a previous race for judge in 2004, is currently leading with 7,040 votes or 35.5%.

Openly gay candidate Brad Trowbridge has 2,061 votes or 10.40 %; Gideon Abraham Baum 928 or 4.68 %; Judge Helaine ”Lainie” Berger is taking 3,787 or 19.12 %; Judge James L. Kaplan has 3,864 or 19.51 %; and Ex-State Rep. Ellis B. Levin (D-Chicago) has 2,130 or 10.75 %.

In his two tries as a candidate for judge, Ehrlich has raised $78,896.90.
